This is the result of the clash of uninformed zealots on both sides.

A limited access dirt road along the border isn't going to ruin the park any more than the highways that are already built through it. It is not some grand ecological disaster. Believe it or not, animals can walk across a dirt road.

Building a physical barrier there is also stupid. There is already a barrier in place. It is called a desert. Cameras on aerostats would be fine. You can see for miles and miles. It's not like someone is going to hide behind a tree. Depending on where we are talking about, most cases it is like 80 miles to civilization. Plenty of time to meet anyone trying to cross with a couple police cars. Most times, when they pick up people out there, it is a rescue. It is no place to be crossing on foot.

Surveillance and control chills me to the bone. Here, it appears to be dressed up as border protection from nasty foreign invaders, but like you say it's more like an insidious and dangerous step to a dystopian authoritarian future.

Lets face it, when you boil it all down they want us enslaved and controlled, to keep the money and power going. Humanity is at a tipping point, as we approach the day when technocrats and psychopaths will have the ability to curtail your speech, your thoughts, your movements and your ability to escape their control. I have a wild imagination but I can't imagine ever coming back from that. We have to choose freedom over tyranny before it's too late, and maybe with God's help we will.

Ok. The way i see it the resistance from the residents can be solved. They can patrol the area themselves. They can hire all the necessary people needed to have 0 illegal immigration. They can use the money that would have been spent on the wall. Doesn’t that make sense?
