Zero minute City;

THE 'Cage' - Then the 'Power' is 'Corrupted'!? 'People in Ivory Towers' = WHAT!

Short story; (Still in the writing - for entertainment value). ManYouFractured Mauso.[lium]- Or ;Masada 2.0- Fiction (Maybe)

Claydon had a Niche market -Grano (Concrete construction)business, in an idyllic Oceanic recluse. Given his inside craftsman's knowledge & Verve for Creating Novel & Bespoke solutions to a specific clientele. He had An infused dreamy style not unlike Salvadore Dali in Stone, nurtured by his father, encouraged by his artistic mother. In a progression of Global imbalances, Neo clients demanded MORE secure & exotic solutions, to satisfy their paranoia. Amongst the throng, Certain 'Tech personalities' started pushing beyond the Pale - even to extremes, hitherto not experienced by young Troy (Hero of this short tale). Eager, as ever, to accommodate his clients Vision of perceptions & Expectations, Troy lay wakeful - Now Regularly, trying to resolve the endless riddles of Constructions eternal. One specific client above all, seem to demand Troy's entire being- Including his design & construction Crew, for his projects final Manifestation. HE, the Client, only ever referred to himself as Shabriri. One was NEVER allowed to talk directly to 'him', and his family never 'Accompanied' him. The 'Project' at some extreme expense, morphed forward. New days, New weeks, New months = new problems -as usual for Troy, but taken in his stride. Every night, he'd visit his 'Creation workshop' - Much he thought, as others such as Tesla may have done.. "Mate. Are you all right Bro? You've aged years in these past months!" Quipped a couple of the Crew. "Hope they realise the impositions on you! You know the drill Boss - Call if you need help!" Troy's select crew, hadn't come about on a whim. They'd been thru many a battle together - Righteous arseholes & vacuous 'Vogues' operations. - The 'Pay' by The client for same, never seemed quite the 'Measure' of Energies involved- Yet still the Crew & Troy persisted, An Ethos diminishing in the modern World.

Deliverance; THE Project, coined 'Masada' by the Client, for all it's complexity & whimful extravagances, including Expansive vistas, bullet-proof glazing, restrictive monitored access - exit, stand alone energy usages & Conditioning, was finally finished - with much relief by the Construction crew, least- fully by Troy. The Final account, even after multiple progress payments WAS enormous! Fully stretched by his banking overdraft, Ever threatening destruction of Personal relationship strains, Troy, ever the consummate architect of perfection, felt fulfilled on his brief! Stand aside Gaudi & pyramid architects, Troy - And Crew, appear for their group laurels & rewards.

The 'Email' appeared early - somewhere after Mid night - He, Troy 'Thinks'- Still partially in the Dreamers workshop, for concept improvements. -Stark. Basic. Crisp. Spartan. Non reflective.;

From Client; 'Masada' is a wonder. Your last payment, WAS the Final payment. ALL other 'Costings' are NOT approved for payment. Agents have been deployed. You have No legal access to MY 'Property' forthwith. This, by you - OR your workforce, will be deemed as 'Trespass' - with appropriate & available reinforced action taken against said trespass by local authorities. - Shabriri.

Troy, looked stonefaced at the screen in his office, unable to construct a reply. His fresh brewed coffee, unable to formulate any chemical relief. Just his mouth open. The blue screen reflective in his prescription glasses. Digital Script on a digital screen.

To be Cont'd;

Several points in the "gentrification" of Mexico.

First of all I totally get it. A country has a cultural identity. Having enclaves of people from outside the culture that don't integrate destroys the unifying force of the culture. You get a bunch of people that come in and demand that everyone conforms to their culture.

Then there is the double standard. If people in Mexico want to keep out the encroachment of foreigners, they are making a noble effort at preserving their culture. If we do it here the US, we are just being racist and xenophobes.

It is the whole idea of gentrification is just a load of nonsense. You don't just build a neighborhood and allow it to rot down to the ground. It takes money and work to fight entropy. You rebuild the neighborhood as it deteriorates and you don't get to go back and pull materials and labor from a time machine that has the prices people paid 50-60 years ago. The higher prices for labor and materials makes the properties more expensive. Add to that the increased cost of remodeling and bringing old structures up to modern standards and yes, it makes the areas more expensive. Especially in light of Mexico City being subject to earthquakes, higher environmental standards, and power demands for modern life.

It is also rich when a population points to colonization as being evil when they themselves are a product of multiple waves of conquest and colonization. They had waves of it from the Olmecs, Teotihuacan, Mayan, Toltecs, and Aztecs and more long before the Spaniards joined in. Then the French. They have a long history of immigrants from other places as well, much like the US.

That said, if I were to move to Mexico, the last place I would want to be is around a bunch of snobby expatriates from where I left. It defeats the whole purpose of moving to a different place. Of course where I live, it would a pointless move. The vast majority of people here (more than around 90%)are either actually from Mexico or just a generation or two removed. It even used to be part of Mexico. Many of the people here have families that straddle the border. People still move between the countries fairly fluidly. Every day, there are people cross the border both ways to shop, work or attend school. Endless truckloads of produce pass through here bound for stores all over the country. Manufacturing shuttles goods back and forth between production facilities here in the US and in Mexico.
