In fact, the last time it was tried on an industrial scale -- just last century -- the West instituted clear and careful guidelines to help humanity from falling into that same dark, disturbing trap ever again... An example of ethnic cleansing that we all celebrate is 1776: the British kicked out of the USA, and the Americans remain in the USA.
Ethnic cleansing is permissible under Geneva & modern Western Christian concepts of a just & moral war, going back centuries.
Ethnic cleansing & genocide are not synonyms, but under certain circumstances they can actually be antonyms.
I do recall, however, from Yugoslavia that the mainstream media confounded those two terms. When there was genocide in the former Yugoslavia, the media called it ethnic cleansing.
Today’s mainstream media is still allied with neocon/ neolib multipolar commie globalist world order (which **depends** on poverty & perpetual proxy warfare in the Middle East). The mainstream media intentionally conflate those two terms, and they misrepresent Israeli ethnic cleansing in Gaza as genocide.
