This is vitally important, and I'm glad you emphasize it in your discussion of Bendell's book. Self-awareness and self-criticism also apply to one's "extended genome" of sorts: the communities, companies and industries one keeps.

That criticism must have been hard for Bendell . Many of us recognise the changes we have made can distance us from people we used to be closer too.
